Week of 1st's

This was a week of firsts.  We went for our 1st walk around the neighborhood, first trip to Galveston, first dinner out at Logan's Roadhouse, first time to Hobby Lobby, HEB and Kohls, and our first feeding outside the hospital or home (as our oil change went a bit too long).  Bryce has been awake more and more, which has been fun.  His feedings are still fairly consistant at every 3 hrs, but has had a few nights now with 4-5 hour intervals, which I am happy for.  He has begun to spit up a bit more often so we now have to be more diligent about putting down blankets/birp cloths. Overall he has been a great baby.  Ryan was gone for a few days to a tournament.  It was so sweet, he texted and said he missed Bryce and asked for new photos.  I could tell he was sad to be gone. My Dad is still working on Bryce's cradle. Its coming along and should be done in the next few days.  My Mom is midway through knitting another sweater for him...hopefully we had a chilly winter so he can get good use out of them while they still fit.

Day 5

Late nights with MOM

Ryan got peed on!

Our 1st Bath

Our 2nd trip out (first was to the doctor on day 4) to shop at Target!  He slept soundly the whole time.  Wonder if he will keep this up?!

At the hospital

Well we had finalized a name had we had a girl, but we still had a short list to narrow down to give our handsome boy a name.  It took us until the following day to agree that this little fellow will be named
Bryce Edward Nelson

The first diaper change...Ryan looking a bit unsure of himself.

My beautiful baby

In the arms of his first visitor, Grandpa Hase, who was here to help me out should Ryan be out of town. We don't know yet what our official titles will be yet for each grandparent, we will let them figure it out.

Bryce's Next visitors Sara and Jeeba

After a day and a half in the hospital we get the OK to head home.  If you recall we had bought 2 'going home' outfits, obviously we put on the boy shorts and top that Ryan had picked out.  They were newborn, but poor Bryce was still swimming in it.  My Dad did the inital dressing and put his shirt on backwards! Of course I had to document the blunder.

And we're off!

Baby Boy Nelson Arrives at 37.5 Weeks

After the long awaited announcement  we finally get to say that Baby Nelson is a BOY!  We went in to the hospital in the evening on Sunday, June 13th after my water broke.  Thankfully Ryan was home awaiting the start of the Texas State Open qualifier in Houston the following Tuesday.  After just a few greuling (back labor) and not so bad hours (epideral euphoria) we greeted our newest member to the family.

He was sure to let us know he was healthy with a very loud cry, so much so that the nurses and the mother next door commented at how loud he was.  It was wonderful to hold him in my arms for the 1st time.  After beliveing that he was going to be a girl, I was a bit shocked when they said "Its a boy!"  But I couldn't be happier.  He stole my heart the moment I set eyes on him.

Proud Papa

He didn't have much of a conehead, but his face was a bit off center (Thankfully its gotten better and we can use this photo for embarassing him later).

36 Week Ultrasound!

Wow time has flown!  Can't believe its already June...and the countdown is now in days.  Today we had our last ultrasound.  Everything looks great.  Baby Nelson is in a good position for delivery, but unfortunately not for face shots.  Good luck deciphering the photo below.  Sadly, we didn't any good photos this time around.  According to measurements baby is 6 lbs, 13 oz at this point. Strong heartbeat, breathing, plenty of fluid, placenta is out of the way and there was even a bit of visible hair.  And I can attest that there is plenty of kicking going on too.  I am getting so anxious!  Now just to finalize on a few names.  I think we are fairly well set on a girls name, but still have several boy names to wade through.  And again, we are keeping it a secret!  I know it is killing some of you, but there isn't too much time left.  We bought a dresser/changing table last week, just waiting for it to arrive so I can get things set up a bit more, and hopefully organize the computer room so its a bit more useable.

Sunday Drive

Well actually it was Saturday, but we drove up to Brenham (and the surrounding Washington Co.) hoping to see fields of wildflowers.  Unfortunately, its too late in the year to see too many.  We did stop at a few great sites to view the flowers, toured a few antique stores, had a tasty lunch and partook in some Blue Bell ice cream. Overall a wonderful day with my hubby, just the two of us.

RIP Grandpa.  You will be missed.
