Last week we had another visit to the obstetrician, nothing unexpected arose. I am still waiting to hear how the glucose screening test went, but I don’t suspect any problems as I have no signs of gestational diabetes thus far. I did get my RHoGam shot (cuz I’ve got O- blood), which Ryan keeps thinking is ridiculous. He wonders why they don’t just test him, which he thinks he’s O+ so it wouldn’t matter anyways, so I wouldn’t have to have a shot. My response was that there are probably enough women out there that 1) don’t know who the father is or 2) won’t admit who the real father is to test him.
The baby has been in full gymnastics mode the last few days which has been enjoyable. I’ve had little to no heartburn either, but I’m still having tailbone/hip issues. It is certainly better than it was. I’ve got one more chiropractic visit scheduled, but I think I’ll just have to hold off on going after that since it hasn’t completely helped. Save our money for more pressing matters such as our laundry list of baby supplies.
Ryan and I took a 2-day intensive birthing class this weekend. We did it this way because there was no way we could do a weekday evening class with Ryan being gone. Unfortunately when we scheduled it we didn’t realize that there was a BIG golf tourney on. Yes- Ryan missed the Masters coverage live, but we taped it and he didn’t miss anything but commercials. The class went over the different stages of labor and how to cope, we got a tour of the birthing suits and nursery, we saw a new baby being bathed, and ‘learned’ how to breastfeed. I felt like I gained a lot of knowledge, but until we actually go through it I’m not sure I really know anything.
Ryan thought it comical because our instructor kept calling the fathers VIPs. I’m just glad that I have a great husband to go through all of this with.
So the little baby girl that we saw the bathing demonstration on had 15-year-old parents! I couldn’t imagine. I was sitting there thinking that when they are our age their daughter will be 17 (and hopefully not having kids of her own)! At least for the 15 minutes we interacted with them they seemed very concerned and attentive to the baby.
Oh this week we also bought me a breast pump, courtesy of my parents! I haven’t opened it up to see if it will FIT, because I do have a few more months for possible breast enlargement (wishful thinking?).
Time to get back to work
