Bryce Moving and Shaking

Bryce showing how close he is to sitting on his own

Bryce eating rice cereal for the first time.  I think he enjoyed it!

He is a champ at rolling over now and started last weekend rolling over in either direction.

Having fun in his Johnny Jump Up.  He can entertain himself for quite some time.  Thanks Lisa for the fun toy!

4 1/2 Months!

Bryce in his cute overalls

Hanging out under his play tent.  Bryce is into grabbing his toes a lot.

We tried to put him in his bouncy seat while we organized his room, but he insisted on leaning forward. If he wasn't buckled in he would have tipped right out. Guess we can't use this anymore

Mr. McCutie?!

He is a pro with the bottle now and can even hold it himself!

Giggles!

We all went to the Octoberfest in Galveston for a few hours.  Bryce liked the people watching, Ryan liked the beer.

Bryce trying rice cereal!  He really liked it, but was going more for the breast milk than anything I think.  He made quite the mess as expected.

Bryce's new toy.  Grandma Lisa bought this for him after knowing how much Andrew enjoyed it.  Bryce doesn't have the jumping thing down yet, but he likes to spin and swing around bit.

Here he was insistent that he was going to walk to the door jam

Yumo!

Hanging on the back patio.  If you recall this was the outfit he came home in.  He was swimming in it then, now his belly sticks out a bit. Hehe.

Cute thongs

Watching the washing machine go round and round

Oops the 'hangups' of being able to roll over.

Yummy, Bryce's second attempt at rice cereal.  A little more thick this time.

Too bad this turned out blurry, but he was leaning out for more.

Ooh, the remote control.

I went shopping for some plants to put in the yard and Bryce just stared at the leaves.  Hopefully he will love the outdoors like his parents

So he doesn't much like being plopped in the bumbo and is already trying to escape!

What are you looking at?

Go Ducks!

The past 3 weeks Lisa, Ryan's mom, came down to care for Bryce while I went into work to write.  Unfortunately I didn't finish.  She was a big help and Bryce loved the care.  She helped him get more proficient at rolling over and he is now just about to sit successfully on his own.  It also allowed us to keep him out of daycare a few more weeks.  Ryan and I have checked out a few that have available spots, and they were satisfactory, but there is just something lacking.  Of course I cried after I left the first place. Is there some how I can be a stay at home mom and have a career in science?!  Hard decisions.

Some how I managed not to get ANY photos of Bryce and Lisa together.  Boo. I need to become a better photographer!  Lisa also helped start the decluttering and staging of our house so we can sell it. Oh I pray that it wasn't a poor decision  on our part to buy.  Other houses in the neighborhood are making a bit of a profit and most don't seem to stay on the market too long.  Crossing our fingers...

In other news:  Ryan qualified for the second stage of Q school, on the number.  It was very stressful for us all.  We will find out shortly where and when he will be going. Check it out at http://www.pgatour.com/qschool/.

I found out that one of my first author manuscripts was accepted into Vaccine and will likely be in print early next year.  I was also given 2 scholarships from UTMB.  One was Micro and Immuno specific and the other was from the Faculty Women's Club.  They are greatly appreciated with all of the anticipated job interview and moving expenses we will incur.

Loves Football

A few random photos

So I feel like a bad parent, but Bryce really loves watching TV. I think that its just the movement and flashing lights at this point. We will be playing and he will see the TV out of the corner of his eye and turn to watch it. But here we set him up so he could watch college football. GO BLUE! and Orange/Black and Green/Yellow

Day at Galveston Beach- Bryce Rolled Over!

The initial turn onto his side.......

And he gets turned all the way over to his side!  Can't believe we got it on video.

We headed to the beach because it was such a perfect day.  80ish without humidity.  Bryce actually tolerated the water and sand.  We kept him well shaded, but of course we all got burnt.

Back to Work

Ugh. I have not been very successful at writing while I am home with Bryce so I have resorted to writing at work in my office.  There are fewer distractions, well just Bryce.  Lisa, my mother-in-law is here from Oregon for a few weeks watching Bryce and I am grateful that we don't yet have to put him into daycare.

The past few days have been quite productive and I have gotten more done than I had over the past 3 months.  My goal is to be done, completely done writing in the next 2 weeks.  Send good vibes my way! Its sad being at work.  I miss him alot and think about him often, but I know he is in good hands.  I've had to resort to pumping a lot and its irrating having to wash all of the equiptment everynight, but I know its best for Bryce so I will continue.  Its been rough because he hasn't been sleeping for long periods these past few nights.  We are trying to get him to nap now on his own without being held and to make him take longer naps, which may be altering his night sleeping patterns.  But this is what the books recommend, so we will continue to try.  Until now he had been waking from his naps after 15-30 minutes we are putting him back to sleep if its been less than an hour. I'll let you know how it goes, hopefully next week I'll return a little more rested.

Home movies weeks 14 &15

Bryce's first giggles on video!  Love it! Though he seems a bit scared of the new toy. This the long version, sorry, the shorter one doesn't seem to want to load.

In the past few weeks he has started putting more than just his hands in his mouth.  Here is is enjoying a bit of vibration from another new toy from the Maughn's

He can't get it to vibrate on his own, but Bryce can sure get a good grip on  this frog so together we can enjoy it

Trip home to OR

My Mom wanted Bryce to meet the rest of our family and friends so she brought he and I home for a week.  We had a great time and Bryce loved being held.  I was glad that we got to show him off, it was overdue and I feel bad that we are still in TX.

I was worried bringing him home by myself, but he did great on the planes...thankfully.  Most of the the airline staff and fellow passangers were very helpful. We flew into PDX and stayed a few days in FG.

Meeting Great grandma Amey (Bryce is the 1st great grandson/child)
and Great grandma Nelson (Bryce is the 6th great grandchild)

Finally Grandma Lisa gets to hold him again.
 Hanging with Grandpa Paul again.

Auntie Caitlyn and Kayleen (with Harper)

1st bath in a sink. He wasn't cooperating and kept trying to stand and stay straight as a board. But he had to get ready for the open house at the Nelsons to meet family and friends.

Proud Uncle Marques hoping Bryce becomes a Steelers fan
 Snuggling with Jane

Bryce playing with Nana, Henley, and Hazel
 Aunt Lindsay

My family
With Aunt Caitlyn and Uncle Andrew
Being gawked at by Hailey and Holly
Wow, Oregon is cold.  Wearing sweater and hat made from Grandma Hase on our walk around the heights.

Becky finally gets to hold Bryce
and I get to meet Madaline
Angela and I with our little ones

Next we traveled south to Corvallis to see my siblings.  Bryce enjoying Uncle Tanners company.
 Waterfront walk
 Farewell to Tanner and Steph

Our last trip was over the mountains to Central Oregon. Geez its cold here, but at least we have sunshine. Wearing another sweater by Grandma Jan.  Too bad he wont be wearing them much before he grows out of them.

Gearing up for football season

Oooh, Ahh a dip in the hot tub (cooled down) with Grandpa Steve
We went on Bryce's 1st of many hikes.  This one up Tumalo Falls
 He liked the hot tub

Me with my Grandma Lois
Bryce enjoyed spending time with his great grandma. I'm not sure she knew who he was, but thought he was a hoot.

Just getting on our last leg of our journey home. 2 little planes from PDX to Denver to IAH, luckily they were smooth rides.
